A FEW OF OUR MOST POPULAR DESTINATIONS...
MALAMALA & MASHATU
It is no exaggeration when people talk of MalaMala Game Reserve as the finest, high octane big five game viewing on the planet. A river, the sand river draws in streams of wildlife from the vast Kruger national park where it’s said that the highest leopard and lion density in the world awaits them to provide some of the most incredible sightings and encounters that have been witnessed by safari goers. Combine this with the rocks capes and underground hides of Mashatu, providing an up close, low angled and intimate interaction with elephants, eland, lions and so much more.
The Serengeti is a name firmly embedded within the safari culture from old explores, renowned film makers, photographers professional and armature alike and of romanced lovers in search of a source of inspiration with an abundance of natural beauty that’s never seems to wither. The Serengeti stands alone in it’s marvellous ability to deliver an extraordinary encounter with Africa’s wildlife unlike any other and our Serengeti Migration Safari offers you the perfect way in which to experience it.
Its sometimes thought that not one place “has it all” and maybe this statement is true but the diverse and dynamic fauna and flora of Madikwe Game Reserve is about as close as it gets. Red sands meet golden sunsets, woodlands meet vast open grasslands which meet dense thickets where black rhino amber in and out. Cheetah hunt the open grasslands, wild dogs charge through whatever their prey chooses in a desperate attempt to void these relentless predators. Elephants and lions and buffalo and almost every other animal found from east to west of southern Africa can be encountered on this wonderous safari adventure.
THE MASAI MARA
Its often said that “you have to see it to believe it”. This is true for the Great Migration. Millions of wildebeest and zebra march on the Masai Mara. Like a river parts around a rock the vast herds flow around your jeep in their search for food and breeding grounds. Only pausing briefly before plunging into the iconic Mara river where crocodiles try their best to thin the endless herd. Those who make it across this perillas obstacle have not seen the end of this incredible journey as lions and hyena and cheetah and every other carnivore that roams the Mara takes their share of the unfathomable bounty.
GORILLAS AND CHIMPS
Uganda, from its woven landscape of reed, water, grassland and impenetrable forests to the unfathomable depths of its hidden crater lakes and to the spectacular heights of its ancient volcanoes. From the prehistoric shoe billed storks that wonder the swamps, the tree climbing lions that find comfort in the high canopies acacias and sausage trees of the savannas to the majestic mountain gorillas or the preposterous and high volume activities of the chimpanzees this safari is guaranteed to enthral and captivate you in every sense.
THE SOUTH LUANGWA
From the days Norman Carr started some of the first safaris in Africa introducing this untamed wilderness to traveling adventure seekers and wildlife lovers to now, the Luangwa valley has always been one of Africa’s most paradisal and wildlife rich areas. This iconic river winds through this slice of the great rift valley and boasts arguably the densest leopard population in the world, hippo populations so large their pods have been known to slow the flow of the river itself and lion and elephant populations that rivals any other park on the continent.
Being so far and so close is possible, so vary far from tarmac and concrete and disturbed horizons but so close to the heart beat of Africa that can only be felt when you find yourself in a wilderness so raw and wild. A place where giants roam as elephants in the shade of giant forest that end only to let giant rivers pass by. Yet amongst these immensities there is a quietness, only your footsteps and bird song breaks the silence.
An adventure would simply not do justice to this journey from Ethiopia’s highest peaks to its lowest depression . A conglomerate of the stunning peaks of the Simien mountains and the endemic animals found within, the churches and mountains of Gheralta, the bizarre tribes of the Omo Valley and to the Danakil depression. Few safaris in the world combine such unique wildlife, landscapes and history.
